North Star Sensors, LLC (“North Star Sensors,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website to provide product information, respond to inquiries, prepare quotes, and process orders. We try to collect only the information needed for those purposes.

Information you provide

We collect information that you choose to provide when you:

• contact us or request a quote, including your name, email address, company, phone number, message, project details, and any file you attach;
• use one of our application, supply, design, or field-failure forms;
• place an order, including contact information, billing and shipping addresses, products ordered, and information needed to calculate tax or document a resale exemption; or
• communicate with us by email, phone, or another method.

Payment-card details entered in the Stripe payment interface are sent to Stripe rather than to our website application. We receive transaction identifiers, payment status, and related information needed to complete and support the order.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our server records limited technical information when it receives a request. This may include the IP address, date and time, requested page, browser or device information, referring page, and information about errors or suspected misuse. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and understand the general performance of the website. Website access logs are rotated routinely, and rotated log files are deleted after approximately 30 days.

Form submissions may also be recorded with a request number, submission time, IP address, and delivery status so that we can prevent abuse and follow up on requests. Website form-log records are deleted after approximately 30 days.

Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral-advertising pixels, session-replay tools, or general-purpose analytics cookies.

When you add a product to the shopping cart, we set a first-party session cookie named nss_cart_id. It contains a cart identifier that allows the store to remember the cart between pages. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. The cookie is removed after checkout or when the cart is cleared and otherwise has no fixed expiration.

Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies on the checkout page to provide payment functionality, prevent fraud, and secure transactions. Stripe describes its practices in its Privacy Center.

Because the website uses only functionality needed to provide services you request, it does not display a cookie-consent banner. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent the cart or checkout from working.

How we use information

We use information to:

• respond to questions and provide product or application support;
• prepare quotes and communicate about potential orders;
• process, fulfill, deliver, and support orders;
• calculate taxes, process payments, and maintain business and transaction records;
• prevent spam, fraud, security incidents, and misuse;
• troubleshoot and improve the reliability of the website; and
• comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

We do not use form or order information to send unrelated marketing messages unless you separately request or agree to receive them.

How we disclose information

We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate our business, such as website hosting and infrastructure providers, Google Workspace and other email providers, Stripe and other payment or tax providers, shipping carriers, professional advisers, and vendors that support order fulfillment. We provide them only the information reasonably needed for their work.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate fraud or security issues, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of business assets.

North Star Sensors does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention and security

We retain inquiries, quotes, order records, and related communications for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, provide products and support, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations. Retention periods vary with the type of record and why it is needed.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No Internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may contact us to ask about personal information associated with you or to request access, correction, or deletion. We will evaluate and respond to requests as required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when required or permitted by law.

Browser-based Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change the operation of this website because we do not sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or conduct cross-site behavioral tracking. Stripe may independently receive technical information on the checkout page for payment and fraud-prevention purposes.

Children

This business-to-business website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our website or practices change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date above.
